About DeepEarth Sustainable Landscapes

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

DeepEarth is an accredited contractor with the Landscape Industries Association of Tasmania (LIAT) and the proud winner of two awards at the 2012 LIAT Awards of Excellence, and winner of Best Residential Environmentally Sustainable Project in 2013 and 2015.

We have been creating gardens since 1999 in London, Melbourne and now in Hobart and the South of Tasmania from 2009. Working closely with our clients and utilising a skill base that covers all aspects of soft and hardscaping, with an emphasis on traditional craftsmanship, we aim to help realise a whole range of outdoor visions, establishing unique and inspiring landscapes for relaxation, rejuvenation, or restoration.

Our guiding value is to leave a minimal footprint on the environment and strive to operate in harmony with the earth. Wherever possible we choose native, drought-tolerant and local plant species over exotics to promote biodiversity. We use organic and natural pest-control methods, and we source as many ethical, non-toxic and locally produced materials as we can. In this way we are able to ensure that our gardens are not only beautiful but also sustainable.

Mind, Body, Earth – Gardens for Wellbeing

For interested clients we also specialise in developing gardens as therapeutic spaces. Maximising the sensory potential of nature, we can design and construct gardens with healing aspects, whether for home or business.

About Dave Driver

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

I grew up on a dairy farm in north Queensland, which provided the backdrop to my personal as well as working relationship with the earth. After graduating from the Australian National University in Canberra with a forestry degree, I travelled to the UK where I undertook an apprenticeship in landscape gardening in the late 1990s. I went on to work for several landscaping companies in London, developing my passion for and experience in garden design and construction. During this time I also undertook postgraduate studies in depth-psychology whilst working extensively with psychiatric patients, hence my current interest in the therapeutic potential of nature. I spent three years landscaping in Melbourne, where DeepEarth was conceived, before settling in Tasmania to service Hobart and the Huon Valley.
My attitude and approach to landscaping incorporates various ethical choices which reflect the way I live my life.
